Crack of the meniscus: What is that ?

However, it is the sportsmen who remain the most affected by the crack of the meniscus, as well as the elderly. Indeed, in the elderly, there is wear of the meniscus. There is then nothing to do, apart from calming the pain with infiltrations.
Know first that in case of associated disease such as osteoarthritis or sprain, it is more difficult to distinguish the symptoms. Moreover, they vary a lot from one person to another because they partly depend on the affected meniscus and the type of lesion.
A lesion of the meniscus is sometimes manifested by:
- persistent knee pain that interferes with daily life;
- knee swelling;
- a feeling of the knee being caught (crunching, feeling that the knee is “backing away”, feeling of instability);
- locking of the knee occurring suddenly. This is characterized by the inability to extend the knee. Unblocking then occurs after rest or muscle relaxation.
Also note that some meniscus fissures are perfectly silent. The victim of a meniscus tear does not feel any pain.
To know : a lesion of the meniscus should not be confused with other health problems such as sprains, osteoarthritis or patellofemoral syndrome. A diagnosis must be made after clinical examination. This will precisely determine your mobility, strength, balance and functional abilities.
Natural treatments for a fissured meniscus
In the event of a meniscal injury, it is important to rest the knee. Stop all sporting activity and also avoid any support on the affected leg. Never force the joint.
In case of a swollen or painful knee, apply ice. The cold will then reduce the inflammation. Be careful not to put ice directly on the skin as this could cause a burn. Place the ice cream in a clean cloth.
Repeat the operation every four hours if necessary, for two days.
Raise your leg
If you notice swelling in your knee, consider raising your leg.
Harpagophytum, better known as devil’s claw, is a plant known to fight against inflammation. Use it in dry or liquid extract for at least 40 days to get good results.

Some oils prove to be real natural remedies for a fissure in the meniscus. Choose an oil rich in Omega 3, of marine origin and unrefined. It is essential to select a good quality oil.
Camelina, rapeseed, hemp and linseed oils are particularly recommended.
A balanced diet
