Thyme herbal tea is not recommended in certain cases that we will explain. Indeed, in too large quantities consumed thymol, which is a compound of thyme, can be dangerous and cause side effects.
- Pregnant women : thymol can cause hormonal imbalances in pregnant women.
- Cardiovascular problems: in people susceptible to these problems, the stimulatory properties of thyme can create adverse effects.
- Against hypertension: thyme has a small hypertensive effect, so it should be taken with caution for a person with hypertension.
- People with allergies: for people allergic to plants of the labiatae family (rosemary, mint, lavender…), it is better to avoid consuming thyme.
- Children : be vigilant with respect to the consumption of thyme in children by taking into account, upstream, the medical advice of a doctor.

Nevertheless, like all plants, it should be consumed with caution, especially for people with pathologies and one must remain vigilant as to the side effects it could cause.
