ING Direct: presentation

ING Direct is an online bank belonging to the ING group. It is the second largest savings bank in the world. This large financial institution is of Dutch origin. However, it is present in more than 40 countries around the world, and has existed for more than 160 years. In France, ING has been present since 2000.

This neobank has no physical branch, but has two customer relations centers based in Paris and Reims. On the other hand, around a hundred telephone advisers are available to respond to customer demand.

Since 2019, ING Direct is simply called ING. Open an account with ING Direct: how to do ?

To open an online account with ING Direct, there is no income requirement. However, to open an individual account with ING and have a Gold MasterCard bank card, you must pay at least 1,200 euros each month (salary, pension, retirement, etc.) into your current account or deposit 5,000 euros in savings.

ING now offers a banking offer with no income, payment or savings conditions. However, to take advantage of the offer, you must comply with a contribution of 5 euros per month. Although paying, the banking offer remains advantageous compared to what traditional banks offer.

On the other hand, you must respect certain conditions:

  • be a capable natural person of full age;
  • be domiciled in France for tax purposes;
  • have not been registered with the Banque de France for the last six months;
  • have a mobile phone number and a valid email address;
  • have two valid proofs of identity, as well as proof of address and proof of income.

To note : services turn out to be free. Among them, access to accounts via the internet or an application, management of your budget, SMS alerts, European transfers in the SEPA zone, direct debit authorisations.

Procedures

If you are already an ING customer, go to your Customer Area to open your current account. The formalities are carried out directly online.

And if you are not yet a customer, the procedures are also done online. To do this, complete your opening request by following the link: https://subscribe.ing.fr/tx-opening/landing-page. Sign your agreement electronically. Finally, upload your supporting documents.

How do I log in to the ING DIRECT customer area?

The process is very simple to connect to your customer area. Several options are available to you. Log in to your Customer Space on the ING bank website or to the ING Direct application. It is available on iPhone, Android and Windows Phone.

The connection then takes place in two fully secure steps:

  • identification consists of entering your customer number. This appears on your opening agreement as well as on letters and e-mails from the bank. Also enter your date of birth, respecting the format DD/MM/YYYY, then click on the “Validate” button;
  • the composition of your secret code by entering only the empty boxes.

Note: the date and time of the last connection is displayed on the secret code screen. This allows you to verify that you are the last person to have consulted your accounts. In the event of a problem, contact ING Direct without delay.

Access blocked or password lost: what to do ?

Lost or forgotten secret code

Have you lost or forgotten your secret code? Know that it is quite possible to recreate one or ask to receive another. Just go to the login page of your Customer Area. Then, enter your customer number as well as your date of birth, and click on « Validate ». Then click on the following link:

Answer several questions, then choose to « create a new secret code online » or « ask to receive your secret code by mail ».

Please note, if your details have not been updated, you may be blocked. To obtain a new password, send a letter to ING Direct with a photocopy of both sides of your identity document and proof of address. The letter must be dated and signed.

Note: for security reasons, it is recommended to change your secret code regularly from your Customer Area, under the heading “Your profile – Secret code”.

Access blocked

For security, access to your account will be blocked as soon as you enter three incorrect secret codes.

In case of access to your locked account, unlock it by creating a new secret code, or request a new one. Go to the Customer Area login page. Then enter your customer number as well as your date of birth, and click on “Validate”. Then click on the following link:

Answer several questions, and finally select the proposal that suits you:

  • unlock access to your account (you will keep your secret code);
  • create a new secret code online;
  • ask to receive your secret code by mail.
